A Zombie???
He's alive!!!
It was late. The world outside the window was dark. Too dark. You could barely see anything. The air was chilly. The clock read 10:47pm. The silence was so loud. So so loud. Loud enough for Lois to hear her own heart beat. It might have been as silent as a grave yard in the outside world, but it definitely wasn’t quiet in her inner world. She was scared stiff. Her thoughts were all over the place. “Shouldn’t he back by now?” “Is he still alive?” “What if he’s been turned?”
There was a zombie outbreak in the city of London. Yes, that’s right! A zombie outbreak. How it started? No one knows. All that’s known is that 70% of the population had been turned to Zombies. And that was the stats before the news team all got zombified on duty.
Lois’ husband — Clark — had gone out of the house, despite the terrifying situation, in search of food for his wife and kids. Lois begged him not to go, but he went anyway — determined to feed his wife and children. That was over 5 hours ago, though. “Why isn’t Clark back yet?” was the question her heart was asking.
Thud, thud.
There was a knocking sound at the door. Lois froze in fear for a second. Okay, maybe more than a second. Maybe an entire minute. Then, it came again:
Thud, thud, thud.
This time, she walked slowly to the door in the hope that it would be her dear husband, safe and sound. As she looked through the door peephole. It was too dark to see his face but she saw the silver dragon-like emblem on his face cap shining in the moonlight and she knew it was her husband.
“He’s alive!!!” Her heart leaped for joy as she opened the door quickly and threw her arms around him.
“Honey, I was so scared that I had lost you. Thank God you’re safe.”
“Grrrrrrrrrrr.” He responded.
Lois still had her arms around him when she realized that her husband was no longer the loving human she knew him to be. With tears in her eyes, she said:
“You’re a zomb…..”
She didn’t complete those words before she screamed loudly. Her loving zombified husband had bitten her. With the last bit of consciousness she had as a human, she thought to herself:
“At least I don’t have to pay rent anymore.”
Hey there!!!
Yeah, this letter has nothing to do with zombies or house rent. It’s actually an apology letter. Apology to who? To you, my dear readers. I’m sure most of you reacted to the notification of this letter the same way Lois reacted when she saw her husband:
“He’s alive!!!”
Yes, yes. I’m alive. I didn’t die or turn into a zombie. I’m living, breathing, and still paying rent. Okay, maybe not paying rent (seeing as I still live in my parents’ house), but I’m definitely still living and breathing. So, what happened? Why’d I suddenly disappear like AWOL from danger force? This is where my apology comes in.
I’m sorry. 😔
I really am.
A lot more responsibilities fell into my hands. A lot more priorities. And when I subconsciously weighed it all on the scale of priority, I guess this newsletter weighed a bit lighter than most of the others. And one bad habit I have when I feel overwhelmed is that I start to let go of things whether short-term (like giving up on my work for the day even with the deadlines) or long-term (like shutting down my substack). And so, that’s why it seemed like I just vanished.
But once again, I apologize. Take my poor attempt at fictional writing (the zombie story) as an apology gift. Pardon me. I don’t write much any fiction.
Your next question might be “Why come back now? Won’t you just disappear again?”
Well, my crazily stunning and amazing reader, I don’t intend on disappearing anytime soon. Why? Because I love being able to put out beautiful stuff and see them help someone one way or the other. And it’s also because I’ve run out of teleportation juice. Can’t teleport for the next 3 months. So, I might as well stay here.
This time, I plan on setting a structure and a system that ensures I’m consistent with this. So help me, God.
This is my public declaration of intent! For 2026, I’m gonna be active and online!!!
Let’s fly!!! 🚀
